Ridiculously Easy Steps for Making a Comfy Cat Bed

Just fact that you are reading this is a clear indication that you love your little bundle of mews. If your kitty little is awaiting a brand-new space for slumber, here is a DIY project awaiting your attention. It, indeed, is the perfect option, especially if your kitty’s birthday is round the corner. After all, what’s the point in you celebrating her birthday by just gifting your cat a blink-y neck tie when you cannot afford to bless her with peaceful sleep! Step it up, go for material and initiate it.

Building a Bed for Your Cat

It is said when there is the will there comes the way. Just the fact that you are a cat lover means that you will very much admire building a bed for your cat. Bearing in mind that cats love luxury and comfort, a comfortable bed will suffice. Below is a step-by-step instruction to help you in building a bed which your cat will never love to let go! (Caution – You might just end up making your cat a bit too lazy!)

Make Material Arrangements

At your convenience, ponder and decide on what you need for this project. However, here are the stuff you would need to make a comfortable bed for your cat; get a cardboard box that will serve as the base of the bedding, scissors, needle, thread, safety pins, old comforters (bundle them), an old bath towel, a fistful of rice grains and sturdy adhesive tape, stuffing materials and another material to form a pillow case.

Attention to Detail

It is strongly recommended that you take into cognizance what your cat is comfortable with for it to slumber. This is so because cats have different sleeping stance. Your cat may prefer to cuddle up and fold itself, or it may love to stretch itself; you would have to decide the arrangement with these in mind.

Tape the Cardboard Box

Now you have the box, you may tape the box thoroughly well. Ensure that the base is sturdy, so that it doesn’t fall apart. Also the flaps of the box must be folded inside. This will enforce the sides of the box to become stronger and sturdier. However, if you want that the sides be trimmed, use a scissor to trim off the flaps and tape the top edges along the box.

Place the Towel

You need to create a sleeping inn for your cat which needs to be soft and cozy so that the cat can move around with ease. After you have placed the towel to make her bedding nice and soft, you could make a fabric comforter for her. You may cut out two fabric pieces of the same size and stitch them together, however, stitch only three sides of the fabric and allow the other side open. Sew the other side after you have poured in the rice grains into the fabric bag. When you are done, you may arch it and place it over the towel so that your cat may derive bliss from the moment she ducks into the bed!

However, another method could be to consider a cardigan that you have outgrown and stitch it up totally leaving the neck passage open to fill it up with loose, spare material to make it soft. The sleeves of the cardigan can be stuffed with left over material as well; sealed and placed on the sides of the box.

Make a Pillow

Get two equal sized fabric pieces and stitch the sides allowing the fourth side open for stuffing. It is most important that you sew the fabric properly and fill it up with ample loose material to make it soft. You may now place some soft toys around the bedding for your kitty to feel ‘heaven’; every time she steps in for comforts or rest.

Having done the above, you can have confidence that your cat will love your efforts.
