Hailing from the country of Thailand, Siamese cats are a very popular breed of cats and some live in royal palaces. In the past, they were trusted to keep away evil spirits from these palaces and even monasteries. People also believed the cats brought good fortune to the household he lived with.

The first Siamese cats entered England in 1884 as gifts to a British general. Eventually, they made their way to America after that. Siamese cats are very popular and are among the top breed of cats and are the most popular short haired cat.

Some question what makes a true Siamese cat given that there are several different colors to this breed? Siamese cats have lighter body colors, with darker areas usually around the face, legs, tail and feet. Other characteristics of a true Siamese are weight between 6-16lbs and bright slanted eyes.

Siamese cats usually have a muscular build and round head, giving them a traditionally robust appearance. Throughout the world, they are popular for their unique personalities and color points. Siamese cats do not make nice and quiet pets. Siamese cats are one of the most social breeds of cats. They love to play and make a lot of noise.

Siamese cats believe the world revolves around them and thus demand a lot of attention. This makes them a very dependent cat breed. Given their social nature, they hate being alone or by themselves for too long. They crave interaction and attention and love playing.

Despite their high level of emotional dependence, Siamese cats only require a minimum amount of grooming such as brushing once or twice a month and bathing every once in a while. Siamese cats also don’t require too much brushing since their body hair is short to their skin, thus, if you need a cat which does not require much maintenance, Siamese cats are the perfect choice. They, like any other breed, may however get sick.

Like any cat breed, Siamese cats have a life span of about 15 – 20 years and more. In order to keep your Siamese around for a long time, you only have to feed him on a daily basis and take him to the vet for his checkups and shots.

Siamese cats do not require a lot of attention but you can spend a lot of time with them as they make excellent pets. They can also be a great companion to your kids. A Siamese will be a good and loyal friend for as long as he lives, provided you give him the attention he wants.
